CND SHELLAC BEGINNERS COURSE AND KIT

what to expect when you sign up for your course

Hi I signed up to do my beginners course in shellac with CREATIVE ACADEMY MANCHESTER  a couple of months ago,as my very kind partner agreed to buy this for me as a joint Christmas and birthday  present.I signed up by calling them and booking in my place and putting down a deposit to secure my place on the course, after a few days sweet squared who are the distributors to creative academy Manchester sent me a study book that i need to study ready for an online test .

Your test becomes active 21 days before your course starts and closes 1 day before you attend you need to get a minimum of 70% on the test to attend the course but don't stress as if you don't just give them a quick call and they will regenerate it for you.
As time got closer to me taking the test i did get a little worried as the book covered all cnd products, did i need to learn it all? is there just bits of the book  i need to read? do i just need to read the shellac section? the answer is you need to read and learn most of the book i suppose you could leave out the brisa and acrylic out but you read most of the book so it wont harm to read it. The test consisted of 80 questions all multiple choice but it is timed so you need to be quick.Sadly i am not quick so didn't get to answer all my questions as it went of but i still managed to get 74% but i was not happy with that so asked them to regenerate the quiz again i then got a respectable 84% if my memory is correct.

DAY 1

On arriving at the academy the ladies was all very welcoming asked me to sign in and if i would like to purchase a dinner as they knew somewhere close by and they would have it ready for our dinner time tho i had brought my own lunch so they showed me to a kitchen where i could store my salad in the fridge and make as many cups of tea or coffee as i liked.Whilst making a cup of tea a few of the lady's that was also on the course came in and we had a little chat and a little look around the store.

Then just before 10am our cnd educator DAWN GRANT introduced herself and lead us upstairs where there was another kitchen and 2 training rooms.Dawn showed us into the room where we would be doing our training and asked us to take a seat and on the table was all of our kits. Before we could check out what was in our kits we had to introduce our partners and do some more theory ready for another online quiz at the end of the day.

 GETTING STUCK IN

Wow the exciting bit opening our kits on the table was some bed roll, anti-bacterial hand sanitizer (cool blue) a cuticle pusher, and two boxes in box one there was base and top coat and four shellac colours romantique, cream puff, wildfire and tropix also was 3 mini bottles of scrub fresh, isopropyl alcohol and nourishing remover there was also a bottle of cuticle oil (solor oil) a big bottle of cuticle away a kanga nail file and and a orange wood stick plus a sticker for your lamp and some leaflets i think i remembered everything lol. Then we was to open the 2nd box this was our cnd lamp we had to set it up and Dawn showed us all how to do this.

Once we had opened our kit Dawn gave us a demo on how to do a p.r.e.p on the natural nails and then we went back to our tables and practiced this on each other. Once Dawn could see we was all ok doing the procedure it was our lunch time.
We all was eager to arrive back to the class room to get stuck back in and Dawn recapped us on the p.r.e.p again and showed us how to apply the shellac system using wildfire as the colour base as red shows any imperfections you have missed you will find most nail educators will make you paint a red and a french polish.Once the demonstration was over we went back to our places and took turns on applying the shellac on a  finger each starting from the beginning.
The afternoon just seemed to fly by as once we had all done a finger each Dawn showed us a demonstration of a french and the day was over, or so we thought we was so lucky we had one of the creative lady's showing us how to use the moyou london stamp plates i'm sure her name was Lydia i hope i have not got it wrong i am lucky as i already knew about the plates for a while but still nice to get an extra demonstration.I stayed behind to do the online quiz as i was at college strait after this class so didn't really have much time to do it and didn't think i would get the 80% needed to pass so would need the quiz to be regenerated but lucky i got dead on 80%.

2ND DAY IN

Ohh the shop was buzzing with us lady's filling up baskets of things we wanted to buy but just before 10am Dawn came to find us so we could get the day started.Dawn refreshed us with everything we had learned the previous day and asking us questions to make sure we still remembered everything.
After Dawn did the demonstrations to recap she sent us of to practice the p.r.e.p and a french manicure using the shellac. When we had all done 1 nail each we got to do a timed practice where Dawn wanted us to do 1 red nail and 1 french nail plus doing the p.r.e.p in 15 minutes i don't think any of us managed to do it in 15 minutes lol. Before you knew it it was dinner time again. The nerves started to kick in as after dinner we had to do the full shellac manicure from start to finish but on a real client(well sort of they was our friend/family members).

REAL CLIENTS

This is it we all brought our clients into the training room and was told to do p.r.e.p on both hands then to do a red shellac on one hand and once that was done do a french manicure and not forgetting to scrub fresh again as oils ect could of touched the nail plate. When we was done we could go for a quick brew whilst everyone had completed there hands and once they had Dawn showed us how to do a removal using both nourishing remover that removes in 8 minutes and using pure acetone that takes 10 minutes and guess what guys i was the dummy this time.We all went back to our clients to remove the hand we found the easiest to do  so most of us if not all of us took of the red and had to do the opposite shellac so the client was leaving with matching hands  think of the looks they would of got lol.Dawn inspected our work giving us feedback on our work and technique.we said goodbye to our clients and waited in anticipation to see if we had passed the course.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE

Yay we all passed it was such a relief and exciting time we had a little graduation ceremony and was given our certificates and a cnd badge
